Just over a week to go until the 50th Class Reunion.  The "Redbooks" have been printed and look awesome.  A big thanks to Marge and Adele for their outstanding job.

23 September

Ok classmates this should be the final entry before the big event. I have lots of news to pass out today that should make the  registration line go a bit faster and give you an idea of some of the night's events.

As you enter the building you'll notice four lines.  These lines are broken down alphabetically A-G, H-K, L-R and S-Z.  For the men it's the first letter of your last name, for the women it's the first letter of your maiden name.  If you're married to a classmate it's the first letter of his last name.  When you reach the desk you will be given your name tag and your guest's name tag, a "Redbook" with lots of neat info, and your official reunion pen.  In the book will be your name tag, and a place card that you will need to place on the table that you have selected to enjoy your meal.  There is no assigned seating, just pick a table with who you'd like to eat with.  There will also be a donation jar on the table.  Our class will be doing some type of project/donation for our Alma Mater.  As yet the specific project is undecided and we hope to get some input while at the reunion.  Upon exiting the registration line you will be met by a "greeter", or as some say accosted by a Hall Monitor.  The Hall Monitor, UH, greeter will basically go over this same info for those that haven't been keeping up on our website or Facebook Page.

We will have a memorabilia table set up so if you have a small item that you would like to place on it you're welcome to.   Just remember we cannot be responsible for it.  There are already numerous interesting items that will be on the table.

The pictures in the "Redbook" are those classmates who are at the reunion and who sent in their reservation before the printer cut-off date.  Not the whole class!

At about 8:35pm we will begin assembling for a class picture.  Please help Dale and Dennis by listening to their instructions.  Good luck guys getting about 135 deaf people to listen to your instructions.  After the reunion the picture will be posted in the website and on the Facebook page so you'll be able to download it.

For those not attending, there will be Redbook's" available for purchase for $5.  They may be obtained by sending a check to Marge at the address indicated on the original invitation.

Well I guess that's about all the news I've got.  For those traveling a long ways please do so safely.  Everybody have a great time and I hope to be able to visit with each of you while doing my Hall Monitor er Greeter Duties!

20 September

Okay so I've been a little remiss on my website duties but I do have an excuse.  For the last ten days I've been mostly out of reach of a reliable internet connection.  So what was the first network Western?  Hopalong Cassidy became the first in June of 1949!!  Since my last post the committee had another planning meeting and worked on the almost final preparations.  I'm happy to report that all is going well.  We have our final meeting tomorrow night and will FINE TUNE all those little details.  Our headcount is above what we initialy predicted so that's a great thing.  In fact I think we're over 200 now including spouses and guests.  I'll update you in the next couple of days on any new news.  Looking forward to seeing you all in just a couple more weeks.

2 September

Ok, so what was the popular TV show?  The Fugitive of course!!  But everybody knew that.  The committee met last week and started making the final preparations for our big event.  Everything is coming together nicely and just over a month until the big event.  We're meeting again next week and will start work on the name tags and delegate responsibilities for the night.  Naturally, the women will be making the delegations!!!  The 23rd of September is still the FINAL day that we can accept reservations.   "However, if you want your contact information included in the memory booklet, you MUST send  in your payment BEFORE Monday, September 11!"  That's the day we must send it off for printing so no exceptions.

For those of you who aren't aware, we have several classmates who live in the Houston area and have undergone the recent hurricane. Let's keep them in our prayers and hope they're still able to make it up for the reunion.

1949 was a great year as I'm sure we'll all agree.  A new house costs on the average of $7,450 and average yearly income was $2,959.  RCA even released the very first 45RPM single record!!  So another TV question...The very first network western was also released that year.  Any guesses?

22 August

Do you remember that the St. Louis Cardinals won the world series in 1967?  The first Super Bowl was also in 1967!!  Lot's more interesting facts to be learned by attending the 50th reunion.  We're getting close to 200 attendees signed up for the event so get those reservations in soon.  Remember, the 23rd of September is the last date we can accept them.  Okay, so what popular TV program aired its final episode that year?  Hint: It was sort of a criminal justice program.  Come back later for the answer.

26 July

We are up to over 100 Classmates and 60 guests attending our 5oth Class Reunion!!..There is still time to get your reservations in before the 23 September closing date..  Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime event.

12 July

Up to 98 classmates and 58 guests participating in the 50th Class Reunion.  Don't miss out on what's to be a fun and successful gathering.  Get your reservations in now!!!

         Update 6 July 2017

The committee would like to thank everybody for getting in their reservations which allowed us to meet all of our initial financial obligations.  We especially enjoyed those nice comments thanking us for coordinating what is to be a fantastic 50th reunion.  Since we have met our initial financial obligation we are now able to continue to allow, and encourage, additional reservations up to 23 September which is the date that we must give our final headcount to the caterer.  So, please pass this along to as many classmates as you can either by sharing of Facebook, email, snail mail, phone or whatever!  We'd like to have maximum participation, especially from our out of town classmates.  If you have any questions or need assistance don't hesitate to ask.  (Harry Ward) kg5eg@yahoo.com

92 and Counting

We're up to 92 classmates attending the 50th reunion.  Check out the tab "50th Reunion" to see who you'll miss seeing unless your name in on the list too.  Don't miss out!!!

50TH Reunion Current Information

Reservations are coming in slowly.  In order to meet our financial obligation we have a deadline date to meet.  So if you're sure that you're coming to the reunion please help us out by sending in your reservation/check as soon as you can.  Thanks!!  We can really use your help.

Also, we've had a lot of the printed invitations that we sent out returned as undeliverable.  The MISSING page has a list of those classmates that we've lost contact with and the ones that are in RED are those that were returned with the recent mailing.  If you know their whereabouts please let me know at kg5eg@yahoo.com  Don't panic if you didn't receive a written invitation.  Those we had current email address on were sent that way to save postage.

GCHS Class of 1967 50th Reunion

Some things just get better with age.  It’s hard to believe that 50 years have flown by since we roamed the halls as students of Granite City High School.  Some of us have a lot of catching up to do with our former classmates and there are many great memories to share.

Efforts have been made to keep this reunion simple, classy and inexpensive but most of all FUN.  Saturday, October 7, 2017, has been set as the date for the reunion.  The LeClaire Room, 600 Troy Road, Edwardsville, IL, has been reserved from 6:00 until 11:00 pm.  The LeClaire Room is the perfect venue as it provides the main hall for dinner, socializing and dancing and also offers several “quiet/private” areas for catching up with classmates.  A cash bar will be available from 6:00 until 10:30. A “Prime Buffet” dinner catered by Bella Milano Italian-American Restaurant will be served at 6:30.  The menu includes Milano Salad, Blackened Chicken, Prime Rib AuJus, Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes, Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce and Balsamic Green Beans with Mushrooms.    If you have a medical condition requiring special dietary needs, please indicate so on your reservation and we will try to accommodate them.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the “Owlz Band” and the dancing will begin at 7:30.  For a preview of the band, consider attending the GCHS Car Show on June 10 from noon until 4:00 pm.

The cost for our reunion is $50.00 per person.  Please make your check payable to “GCHS Class Reunion 1967” and mail to

Marge (Cauble) Robbins (618-452-5349) at 2416 Cardinal Avenue, Granite City, IL  62040-6125.  Payment is required BEFORE July 5, 2017.

Hi, just a quick message from your reunion committee.  We met on 28 March and confirmed that all was going well with the planning and that we were on track for an awesome 50th Class Reunion.  The reunion is planned for Saturday, 7 October 2017 at the LeClaire Room in Edwardsville.  The band “Owlz” will be providing entertainment.  As we understand, they’re great and play an assorted variety of music.  The cost of the reunion is $50 per person which includes a great meal, entertainment and all associated costs.  There will be a “pay as you go bar” for those interested in partaking in the stronger beverages.

For those that we have current email addresses, we will be sending your invitation by email to help reduce costs.  For those that we don’t have current email address on we will be sending your invitation by snail mail.  So if you would be so kind PLEASE update your current address both email and snail mail.  The invitations will go out by 15 May and at that time we will be starting to collect money for the reservation.  We ask that you make your reservation as soon as possible so that we can firm up our food order as soon as possible.
Thanks, Harry

Planning for our 50th class renunion has begun.  The event is to take place on 7 October 2017 at the LeClaire Room in Edwardsville, Il.  We're looking for a VERY large turn out so dig out next year's calendar and put a big circle around that date.

In order to get that LARGE turn out we need to be able to contact as many of our classmates as we can.  It's been a long time since we had a current database of contact information and we're doing our best to get it up to date.  So if you would please send your Name, Address, email information and if you'd like your phone number to me Harry Ward.  My email address is kg5eg@yahoo.com.  This information will only be used to contact you personally and will not be given out to any third party.  Also, drop by the "missing" part of this website and see if you know how to contact any of the names on that list.  It's unbelievable how many of our classmates have just "dropped off the grid".

update 6/15/2016
The LeClair Room has been reserved for 7 October 2017 for the 50th reunion gathering.  Also the band "Owlz" has been reserved and will play from 7pm to 11pm.  According to the members of the reunion planning committee that observed them playing, they're GREAT and will provide us with plenty of enjoyment.
